About Tindogs

I am a software developer who was learning a new coding language for my job. While practicing making different API requests I stumbled upon something called the Dog API that generates random images of dogs (https://dog.ceo/dog-api/about), and the random user generator (https://randomuser.me/) that generates random user profiles. I was pairing the dog images with the randomly generated names to practice making nice designs, and as I practiced I found many of the pairings were quite amusing.

I was having drinks with some friends and I showed them the practice applications that I had built using these APIs and they also found the pairings funny. From here an idea emerged to create an app that generates pictures of dogs with human names, and allow users to save the ones that they like. Naturally, a Tinder style application for this seemed to be a great fit. The next morning I started building, and this is the product!

This app simply grabs random photos of dogs, pairs them with a random human name, and displays them for your enjoyment! There is really nothing intelligent going on – all photos are cropped the same so some generated images may be cut off in weird places. Sometimes the names are in a different language and the display gets messed up a bit. I am sure there are many other oversights, but the beauty is if you don't like what you see you can simply swipe left :). I hope this can give you a few laughs just like it has done for me.
