I’ve been a believer my whole life, I’ve attended Christian schools my whole life, and I’ve heard the stories of Jesus countless times. I’ve also seen every Jesus movie and miniseries ever made, and there have been dozens. So why a new TV show about Jesus?

Because I have a passion for people to hear the “old, old story” again … for the very first time. When I see Jesus movies, it’s sometimes hard for me to feel moved or excited. I’ve heard the stories before, and many Jesus projects just take you from Bible story to Bible story, not spending as much time on the humanity and backstories of all these characters. And they sometimes feel stiff and formal.

So when we started to write a show that explores Jesus through the eyes of those around Him, we were repeatedly moved and excited. We explored the backstories of Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and a few of Jesus’ miracle recipients, and in turn experienced Him in the way they did. We couldn’t help but identify with their recklessness, rough pasts, religious piety, and desperation for life change. And ultimately, their redemption.

One of our favorite responses from an early screening? “The story of Jesus that actually appealed to my teenagers!”

No matter where you’re at in your journey with Christ – whether you’re one of the many people in the gospels who encountered Jesus after a horrific past without Him, or you’re a Nicodemus who’s been a lifelong member of the God team – Jesus proved over and over that we have so much to learn and innumerable traits that need change.

Chris Groden: I love everything that this stands for. My only critique is that if I stop watching (while casting to my Samsung TV) in the middle and start again later, it starts from the beginning. I have found no way to fast forward. My TV remote allows fast forwarding, but only 12 seconds with each push of the button. If I fast forward on the app first and then cast, the casting starts from the beginning. Would like to have closed captions available. Some accents/dialects are hard to understand.

Mark Blaess (Attorney at Law): 1st and most important item is the show is great! 5 stars not based on the apps performance but because I like the show. The app works. It looks and has similar features of most streaming video apps. I can't figure out how to turn off the subtitles. If you can't that is strange. It stopped automatically playing the next episode in the 2nd season. These may just be something I did? So yeah it works and love the show so 5 stars.

Jeremy W. Hood: I can't take it anymore. The show is fantastic. But this app is hot garbage. The freezing in the middle of episodes is understandable. Maybe issue with network, etc... However, the inability to open the episode back up and skip ahead to where I left off is a major let down. The episode will start again from the beginning, even if you skip ahead in the app before casting to the tv. And then, if you try to fast forward on the tv you will maybe get 2-10 second skips at a time with buffering pauses.

E McCormick: As an update to my first review I am very impressed with the chosen tech support team. I contacted them regarding the update issue where I was left with a black screen. I got several prompt replies. They put a fix in place and once I had uninstalled/reinstalled and cleared the cache and cleared the data from the app in settings it works again. I appreciate the prompt responses.

V & W R: The Chosen series has been great, but it was much easier and better quality to watch and hear on Youtube, on our TV. It is much harder to watch through the app, even if I screen share to the TV. The video is smaller in size, a little choppy and I have to turn the sound up quite a bit to hear what is being said.

Emilie Ri: I have watched 4 episodes, and so far it's SO good. I did have an issue. it went dark and kicked me out and my phone turned off, so I uninstall then reinstall. I watch through the support ad then it kicks me out when attempting to start the show. I thought at first,, the app didn't have its own screen time, and went to my 2min inactivity settings. But that wouldn't make sense. I have the S21 Ultra Samsung.

Michael Cartwright: Really want to give this 5 stars, but over half the time is very unresponsive when I tap a thumbnail. Every special content I've tried to view, absolutely nothing happens. Same thing when I try to watch a video. I just might as well be opening the app to look at pictures! Every other app on my phone works perfectly well, I tap and the thumbnails responds instantaneously. Please do something so I can actually watch videos again.

Tahitian flower: I am simply rating the app and not the content. The content is amazing. It's 10 Stars. It's inspirational and hopefully life-changing but the app is a thorn in your side because it is just so slow! It takes so much time to get to what you want. Strongly suggest that you make changes to the app because it's going to greatly increase your Revenue. I want to be able to just go through things, watch things and BUY things but because the app is so slow, it's just frustrating. Best of luck.

Eric Vought: The series is amazing; the app is endlessly frustrating. After setting it to download for offline use, the progress bar just gets stuck until suddenly it says it is done. Then, +after it is downloaded+, it won't play without an Internet connection. When you have a slow Internet connection, it. Plays. One. Frame. At. A. Time. With. A. Little. Blue. Progress. Bar. In. Between. Each. One. When you write something that downloads for local use, +don't assume the user has a connection+ at playback.

A Google user: Truly beautiful. The landscape, the people, the way they talked, the way they socialized, the way they looked, what they wore. Everything you would've seen if you traveled back in time of Jesus as if they actually had access to a time machine! The app also works wonderfully. My only complaint is that the rewind button only rewinds 10 seconds and the fast forward is 30 seconds. So when I accidentally fast forward i have to press the rewind button 3 times. But that is hardly a complaint, amazing!
