Jeff Bowman: This is an edit to my original review, wherein I erroneously took the developer to task for not allowing mobile data during a scheduled backup. When I contacted them via the website?I'd used the in-app contact previously but didn't hear from them?they got back to me nearly immediately and helpfully described the setting to allow this. I'm also updating my rating to five stars, and I've purchased the Pro Edition as well. I stand corrected and I'm pleased to be a paying customer. It's a great app.

Michael Ceolla: Made transferring missing call logs and text messages a breeze. Wirelessly, and app to app. No separate export and import steps. I initially setup my Pixel 6a without doing the app and settings copy. I was able to go through those steps later but it did not copy over everything. No call logs were copied and some texts were missing. This app came to the rescue!

Jonathan Kelly: worked beautifully to transfer messages to a new phone. I had done the normal Google transfer, but then didn't activate service on the new phone for a few days, so RCS, texts & calls were not up to date when I did move the SIM over. This quickly transferred over the few dozen messages. I will be looking into it's backup features now as a result of this!

Hel J: a great app for the most part. i have it setup to do incremental backups, but on the 1st of each month it does a backup of all my texts. you cant turn that off and that usually creates a huge file and it takes the app FOREVER to read its own file. also once it has started analyzing the file there is no way for you to back out of the app or cancel it, except to force close the app. would really like to see those 2 things changed.

Mary Boyd: Restore worked perfectly for me. I used the app to backup my text messages on my old phone before transferring to a new phone. On the new phone, I saw that group texts didn't transfer properly. One group text was with my family and included my mom who passed away recently. I was devastated to think those messages were lost. I was able to restore the whole conversation (4000+ messages) with photos, video and everything. I'm so thankful and relieved. I highly recommend this app!

Charles Hights: Works like a charm. I did not know Google did not back up my messages until I accidentally deleted an important message. I decided to not allow that to happen again and I got SMS Backup & Restore. I immediately backed up all my messages and set a weekly back up schedule. I was impressed on how easy it was to use. It also allowed you to view your backed up messages and gave you an option to restore a particular one if needed. So i am not set in case I accidentally delete another message. Thanks

Patrick T: Horrible... I thought I had it set right when I started out. But it looks like it was uploading a new file every time. I tried changing it to append, but now it's downloading and then reuoloading the appended file. I've used 20 gigs in less than a week. Still a confusing number given that my text file size is 3.1 gigs and it's doing it every hour. There has got to be a way to do incremental updates, and not the whole file every day/time.

Aravindhan Venkateswaran: This app is exactly what I needed. Had to switch phones multiple times in the last month and somewhere along the line lost a bunch of text messages. Luckily, with this app, I was able to backup the messages from my oldest phone (still had it with me) and merge them onto my current phone. The key is "merge" them - this was super critical. The whole process was effortless.

D: OK, but could be great with one simple change. They need to generate backup files in file formats that can be easily transferred from a smart phone to a computer or external hard drive. You can email individual texts, or text strings with 30 or 40 texts, but nothing larger because of file size limitations of email providers. I want to be able to transfer ALL texts. Using the Cloud to store SMS backups is dangerous, because sophisticated criminals or criminal enterprises can access the files.

A Google user: Restored my texts, along with photos and video within, but doesn't restore them immediately. It will tell you that the restoration is complete, but mine showed only a few of the very oldest of my messages to begin with and then very slowly the rest began to appear. VERY slowly. So they're there, but you will have to wait a significant time, so do not panic (but do keep your other device handy, as insurance.) In addition, the quality of restored video seems to be significantly lowered.
