About AndroDEOPS
AndroDEOPS is an application for mobile devices using the Android platform and helps the development of research on information extraction from documents of the time of Dictatorship Brazilian Military .
The AndroDEOPS is a support tool for methods and processing techniques and text extraction by crowdsourcing and subsequent data mining present in digital image files. Currently it is used with a document based on the Department of Political and Social Order of São Paulo (DEOPS-SP) .
The DEOPS was very active during the Brazilian Military Regime of 1964-1983 and its main goal control and repress political and social movements against the authoritarian regime which was in force. Extinct in 1983, the DEOPS in several Brazilian states produced surveys, reports and prisoner records, as well as investigations of people connected to social movements, political, trade union, student and clandestine organizations, in addition to providing information on the political situation of cities, political parties, personalities and positions.
The DEOPS-SP collection has various documents , as newspaper clippings, reports, surveys, control records and registration of persons, actions and movements. Years after their extinction in the State of São Paulo such documents were handed over to the control of the Public Archives of the State of São Paulo and long access was restricted to relatives and family members of victims and missing period Dictatorship of the Brazilian military. Recently they have been made available on the Internet for public consultation .
Believing in the fundamental importance of research that contributes to a better understanding of that period of our history, we created this application , still in beta, for testing and comments, suggestions and criticisms for its official publication and further work and research in progress.
