Reviews from users

Mathew K: Changed phones. Re-installed the app and it has the previous settings from a Google backup maybe...and the app just says..."verifying" and does not show any if my IoT devices, though the green light is blinking on my Akita! Tried changing passwords, installing and re-installing...no use!! Can't do anything with the app as a result and IoT devices under the 'active' tab!

Amir Ansari: 1. Every time I launch the android app I have to sign in, it doesn't remember my credentials 2. To check bandwidth I have to buy 'advanced protection'. What does bandwidth have to do with protection for me to have to upgrade 3. When I first launch the Active tab on the app, text are overlapping and everywhere (mac addresses and IP addresses are overlapping). The app feels buggy 4. Loyalty points - what is that? feels like a waste of time.

Juan Felipe Rincon: Clunky UI with flaky experience, awkward logout/login issues, overly insistent review prompts, and ultimately provides extremely limited utility in network monitoring. The service as described in Kickstarter campaign was interesting, but currently it's just an energy vampire that just blinks and has an awkward app.

Rune Abrahamsson: The app and Akita device did help find some issues but the app is slow and for every report weekly report I get told that 1 new issue was found while last 0 was found. I had this exact same message like 10 times in a row so either the 1 issue is fake or the 0 in history is inaccurate. Does make it feel trustworthy. The description of the issues isn't good enough to let you fix it either. Like how do you fix issue "third party #3 scan result"? The concept is great which earn one additional star

Mitch Tarala: The app is somewhat slow and glitchy feeling, however it has been improving with updates. The app could offer more features and the descriptions and "how to fix" information boxes should have more details and more clear instructions and tips. Overall it is good though, and is perfect to help secure basic networks for people and families who do not have much technical knowledge.

A Google user: It seems fine. A few hiccups. Not completely sure if it's doing anything. ? Update, this past week Akita detected network connections from an unknown MAC address every night around 11pm. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but it turned out to be the ping from my work VPN that is left connected.

A Google user: PAY, PAY, PAY. Even the "fix it yourself" option requires a subscription - $3.99 or in UK £3.69. For the remote support, I can understand the subscription but this takes the pee. This is after buying the hardware scanner and waiting for well over a year for the product with poor communication. I am going to unplug it and stick it in the recycling. I have not been using Akita for 2 months now. I received 3 emails this week saying it has scanned my network and all is well, the box is in the bin!

A Google user: At this point, seems like little more than a glorified Router GUI. I can see which devices are connected to my router and rename them (but only while they have an active connection, which is weird, since the mac address is obviously stored) but that's pretty much it. I will get mails that the Akita has found security issues viewable in the app, but when I open the app, there are no security issues in the appropriate section. So it's pretty much a $100 facelift for your routers interface

A Google user: I am now revising my previous review as after contacting the akita team, they were very helpful in getting my device up and running and sorting out any problems that I had with it. So now instead of giving a low 3 stars I think it is worth a good 4 stars. (5 stars would mean that there is no improvement necessary , I will see how it performs over the next few months!!!)

A Google user: Can't even sign up! Opened the app and immediately got an error that I have to connect to 2.4ghz. The only way I can do thar is to climb up to my router, plug in the ether net cable and login at my laptop to deactivate 5g. Too much of a pain for the 2 devices I have on that frequency. Doesn't sound as if it would even protect my laptop (main reason I got the device) since it's running on 5g. 18 months late and totally worthless.
