Pure Writer – Protective Mechanism

The current protective mechanism that Pure Writer has is:

1. The article will be saved once the content is changed. If that fails, Pure Writer will notify the user immediately.

2. Pure Writer will check if your content is saved in the database every two seconds. If it fails, Pure Writer will notify the user immediately.

3. If it fails to autosave, then the users will not be able to exit the app completely. Pressing the exit button at this time is the same as pressing the Home button without completely stopping the app. This will allow some time for the user to manually save their content.

4. Every time the app is running in the background or exited, it will automatically backup the whole database if any content is edited. The backup file can be accessed anytime. The backup will be saved along with the previous version of the backup to allow users to revert the backup.

5. The History record, undo and redo feature is provided to every article

6. Has a Trash folder to prevent accidental deletion of articles.

7. Cloud backups: if Pure Writer is integrated with WebDAV, then it will automatically backup all the database content including the articles to the cloud.

Kaya V: I've used this app for a couple of years and I love it! Very simple to use and extremely dependable to keep your writing. I am a bit bummed about the more recent updates though. I know Pro is very important to the creator since they don't have intrusive ads for money (thank you for that!!), but I feel like the options for what the + button leads to should have remained the same or at least be a free feature. Peronally, I won't use TTS or read aloud so it's much less convenient than before.

The only real problem is the way some features seem to be tucked away in hard to find places; i used this for a few months in conjunction with an "always on" app before i found this app's native "always on" function. Still can't find a high lighter tool, but i can find a bunch of specific tools on the length and width of paragraph indention. Its best to just hammer out a bunch of prose, sync to desktop, and edit there.

Jeff Ratliff: I installed this looking for a basic text editor since the one I used to use is no longer in the store. The fact that PureWriter stores files in a database rather than as text files is a problem because my files are no longer mine. I don't want to be locked into this app, and I can't export my notes without paying. And now it constantly pops up noticed for the new version, but gives me a shortened URL rather than sending me too the Play store. I'll be cutting and pasting my text into another app

Steven Webber: As editors for the android O/S go this is one the most powerful and full featured editors I have used. It's main handicap which isn't its fault is how to balance all the features it offers onto a small screen. The author has done a reasonably good job in finding that balance, but sometimes an accidental swipe, movement or button push can disrupt your writing rhythm by messing up or moving you to another part of the text or even to another file.

Charlotte: I got this because what I was using before (Writer) didn't automatically backup my notes. This automatically sends the backup to dropbox, which is lovely. But I now need to get my notes to my desktop, and the backup is encrypted. The only way I can transfer the files to my computer is by paying $14.99 on SALE. I don't need the majority of pro features, but it's basically unusable without the ability to transfer the notes to desktop. Make this feature free or reduce the price. Would pay $7.

R B: The writing interface is nice, but I can't for the life of me get the Google Drive backup to work! Having working cloud back up is a necessity to me, and I don't like that the Google Drive backup seems broken. It says "backup successful" each time, but there is absolutely no file anywhere in my Google Drive that would indicate it actually backed up properly. Please fix this, and I'll change to a 5 star review.

Rocco Rockafire: It was great while it worked. After an update, I'm asked to choose a folder (Documents) which Doesn't Exist, on my phone, for the program to access. Re-installing doesn't work, and creating a folder (Documents) doesn't work either. EDIT: the issue appears to have solved itself! I don't know how or why, but my notes are back and it no longer requires the non-existent Documents folder. Thanks!
